Tasha is still not home, and I must admit, our hope is dwindling to ever get her back. We believe someone picked her up and is keeping her. I just hope whoever it is gives her the life she deserves, or gives her back to us. The county officials came around and took the remaining signs down, but I'm going to put up more this weekend. The live trap has caught a cat and a possum so far, but no Tasha. We haven't seen any confirmable signs for about 10 days. Today is two weeks since she got out. We've canvassed the neighborhood with Hannah, who looks like her, but either someone has her and they're lying to us, or they really don't know and someone else not from our neighborhood took her. I've called the animal shelter every day and last Friday called every vet/pet store in the county. I will put up more signs, and call all the vets/pet stores again, and continue to call the shelter. We've got the live trap for another week. But here is where I would like some advice. If another week comes and goes with no sign of her, our hope will be even fainter that we'll get her back. Has anyone lost a ferret permanently? As in never saw it again? If you did, how did you cope with the guilt and loss? This is so much different than death -- there's no closure with this which means for the next five years or so I will always be looking for her. Please -- any advice you can give on how to deal with this would help out our family right now -- we are kind of stuck and cannot move on.
