I don't know how many of you will remember Scooter. He's a 5 and 1/2
year old who first joined us at about 5 weeks of age due to a birth
deformity to a paw. Tootie has had IBD for at least a year and a half
I'd guess offhand and a terribly enlarged stomach for quite some time and
last year had two stomach surgeries to remove hairballs since he insists
on grooming everyone but his flaccid stomach is poor at moving fur.
Anyway, after many tries of many meds the only thing that consistently
gave him some relief was a combo of using z/d food, and giving him Imuran
and Biosol Aquadrops (which was a new one for us). The Imuran began in
December of 2001 and the Biosol began in April of this year.

After all of this time Scooter has just managed two weeks of normal
movements. For the longest while the absolute best we ever could get was
to have a number of them mostly formed, but he seems to have turned a
corner.

I hope that this means that we can begin weaning the Imuran for safety's
sake. There was no way to avoid it in the past, but maybe he has a shot
at it in the future now. We have an update on his vet's recorder.

The other update is on Seven of Six who has a complete A/V heart
block. Sevwever is still with us and enjoying life -- no pain and her
Aminophylline and Enacard allow her to play some (We monitor her but she
is better and better at knowing when she needs a break.) and have a good
time. Since this has been over a month the chances of a remission are
probably zip, so she will die of this at some point, but she is having a
grand time and enjoying life greatly.

They are both such darlings that this is incredibly cheering for Steve
and me.
