Hi, I am new to this list and I really need advise.

I have a 2yr 8 mos SF MF ferret. I noticed about 10 days ago that she
had a swollen vulva with purulent discharge. I took her to a well known
ferret vet in Beaverton, OR who says even though she doesn't have any
other symptoms he feels very strongly that she has early adrenocortical
disease. He tryed to palpate her abd. but didn't feel anything enlarged
or abnormal but would still like to go in surgically for
exploratory/removal of affected gland(s) in 3-4 weeks.

I am uncomfortable at this point with surgery because we dont know that it
is really what she has. He says he is very sure that it is that because
the only other thing it would likely be is a remnant left over from her
ovaries, and this symptom usually occurs at a younger age than my girl.
Can anyone give me their opinion on this? I want to do the right thing.
I am totally up for sx if I know that she does have adrenocortical
disease.
