The headlines read "Ferrets boost turnout for Pets in the Park event" This article in the Edmonton Journal quoted that "The ferret race was one of the main drawing cards at this year's SPCA Pets in the Park". The event attracted an estimated 8,000 people, around 3,000 more than average. The Alberta Ferret Society's - Great Canadian Ferret Race - held Sunday, May 23rd in Edmonton, Alberta - was a huge crowd pleaser despite the scorching 100 degree weather and the fact that none of the ferrets wanted to run through a 60' maze of sun baked tubes. Who can blame them....it was dang hot! They were much more interested in playing in the Cool Pool and snoozing in the shade! You'll be please to know that our furry friends were also very generous and happily shared their pool with a number of overheated dogs....after they'd pooped in it of course. Our thanks to the Edmonton Journal for the terrific write-up and to the Edmonton SPCA for allowing us to participate in their fundraiser. Thank you also to A-Channel TV and to ITV (Global TV) for the fabulous promotion of the event and of the AFS in particular. And last but certainly not least....to 8 in 1 Pet Products, Marshalls, Performance Foods, Mazuri, The Ferret Store, Novalek, Absorption Corp, Pets for Pleasure and Rolf C Hagen.....thank you for your generous donations...you made a lot of fuzzies very happy. Just one more thing.....to everyone who participated.... Thank you! Stay tuned for additional news on yet another AFS fundraiser...the Frisky Ferret Fun Run.
