I had to add my two cents on the adrenal issue. My male ferret Mingus is a MF ferret and will be six in July. He was going in to have a tooth pulled and I asked my vet if while he was under anesthetic could he please check for adrenal disease. The only thing that made me think he might have adrenal problems was a bald spot on the top of his head about the size of a dime and a slightly enlarged spleen. No other sympoms. Nice full coat (except for his head), great weight, no pee problems, nothing. My vet removed an adrenal tumor the size of a ping pong ball on the left side (which I got to keep part of after pathology was done) and did cryosurgery on the right also another large tumor. The pathology came back as it being a carcinoma. Adrenal disease like everything else in ferrets is different in each and every ferret, so if you question if it might or might not be check with your vet. Also, if you need a great vet to do adrenal surgery or anything else to your fuzzy I highly recommend Dr. Dan Beer in Columbus, Ohio (614)252-4353. He did the surgery on my boy and no problems. He even did the right (cryosurgery) and got all the tumor around the vena cava. Kay [Posted in FML issue 3807]
