I felt the same way too, but all the shelters and rescues vaccinate and they are much more knowledgeable than any one else, of course except for vets. Take rabies for example, it is rare that ferrets get rabies. However if they are not vaccinated and someone is bitten by your ferret that does not know better or refuses to know better, when it does not have a rabies vaccination, the ferret will be destroyed immediately. Distemper is extremely extremely contagious and your ferrets do not have to leave the safety of your home to get it. It is airborne and lives quite a while. You can bring it in just being in an area where an animal with distemper has been, you would not know they have been there because the virus lives a long time. I hope you will get your babies vaccinated right away. Remember there are always 2 sides to every story, but you want to be on the side with the most evidence and support. I hope that helps.
