Shelby Weitz asked about blood glucose levels that went from low to high and didn't respond to insulin. Sabine developed diabetes after surgery for insulinoma and being on pred for a while. At first she responded to human insulin, but she became resistant and we tried pork insulin, which worked well. Your vet may still be able to get some from Lilly (Lily?) They don't make it anymore, but they still had some a year ago. The best treatment for her turned out to be a monthly shot of Lupron. It stabilized her blood glucose so that it was low enough not to register on the Keto-Diastix we dipped in her urine in an empty litter box. It was always high enough to keep her drinking heavily, but she seemed to feel quite good. When we missed a shot one month, her levels shot up in about a week and it took at least a week for them to go down again (also using insulin). After that we never missed a month and she never needed insulin again. Hope your baby responds, too.
