We picked up the ferrets on Monday. It is Wednesday now and the boys are starting to feel at home now. We got our ferrets from Tracy in Spokane. She also took my bird and is giving him a great home. Brooke chose Salt and Rocky. These boys are awesome. Salt was nipping the first day but he has since stopped. The only time he will bite is when he wants Ron to play with him and Ron is not moving a muscle. It is pretty effective and if he bites Ron I think he can handle it. Plus it take Salt a couple of minutes of harassment before he does it so he has plenty of warning. Salt I think will eventually end up to be Ron's buddy no matter what Brooke has to say about it. Those two have really hit it off. Salt immediately found his spot in the front room when he is out of the cage. I know where to retrieve my slippers at when they are missing. He will even come over to me now and take them off my feet. And Rocky found his spot thru the back of the entertainment stand in the cassette tape drawer. Although he doesn't not spend time in there he has managed to hide a few things in there. Rocky is good about going back in the cage to sleep. We always have to retrieve salt from under the sewing table. He is usually sleeping on his back. All of the girls love them except for one who is taking it a little slower which is unusual for her. The reason is most likely that she grew up around the bird who is now gone and feels the ferrets have replaced him. Last night was the first night she petted one and she actually wanted it to crawl around on her. I pulled out one of my catalogs and went shopping for ferret toys and accessories this morning. Luckily thru the supply place things are pretty cheap except for the food. No breaks on food for any type of animal. So next time I go down in Portland I am going to go shopping. Maybe I should reopen a pet store for supplies only and mail them out instead of having everyone drive here. Of course there would be exceptions for the people who live close. Which is probably no one since I live out in the middle of nowhere. By the way does anyone else in Washington have snow today?
