Had the lovely vet visit today with the latest three. All went well, for me at least! Shots are not a popular subject with ferrets... The good news: Gloin and Gimli checked out just fine. Spleen is normal (whew) and they are just a bit overweight. Diet and exercise program in the works (it involves me being overwhelmed by waves of ferrets, but, hey, what's the point of working out if you can't have fun?). Little Girl 3 (Samantha) was in perfect shape, but is going to be a big girl! At 5 months, she was over 2.2 lbs! The not-so-good: Actually, not too bad! Gloin, the one with the hind end weakness has no palatable spinal injuries and no discernable health problems other than being overweight. Lose the weight and more exercise, and he should be fine (that, and he still is learning to walk/run (lumber) on tile!). Only problem: he had elevated respiratory that we need to keep an eye on. The vet thinks it is from stress of the office visit, and from trying to escape the carrier and being stretched out. Other than that, everyone is fine! Fox and Willow (she has grown into the name) have integrated wonderfully into the group. They now reside in "Ferret Mansion" with my other three. No problems going in, although the girls (Bonnie included) kicked the boys out of the favorite snuggle! Everyone got to play in the ferret room together today. The silver girl got quite excited and attempted to fly several times. Got the take off, but gravity soon takes hold. She gets quite far off the ground! Bear and Gloin are trying to dominate each other, but nothing very serious. Will be keeping a close eye on this in the next few meetings. Willow and Fox took to silver girl right away. Bonnie attacked Gimli to get him to play. It was a true David and Goliath..and David won! Basically, looks like the entire group is going to work. I am thrilled! Ferret math is not allowed to strike me anymore (for at least a month...)! Gail Bonnie, Clyde, Bear, Fox, Willow, Gimli, Gloin, silver girl? [Posted in FML issue 3714]
