I reply Sunny, my break-in happened in Western Australia. At first I thought that all 24 ferrets were OK and wrote of my relief to the FML. Some hours later I discovered that I had made a mistake during my panic-stricken head count and 2 of my girls had been stolen. A week later, after a ton of searching and advertising, I recovered the body of one, Speedy, in a neighbouring suburb (She had been killed by a dog after escaping from her captors) which lead to the discovery of the other one, Tippy, alive and well. (She had been sold for $10 by the burglars to a family in the same street as they lived.) The police now have the names and address of the burglars and it may lead to the cessation of the spate of home break-ins that have been happening in our area. The theft of guns and ammo is a worry, isn't it. I'm so glad your ferrets are fine and I hope the crims get caught before harm is done. Apart from thanking all of the kind folk from the FML for their support and sympathy during and after the ordeal (I still can't e-mail you personally because I'm afraid my computer may have a virus and I haven't yet been able to find if it has) I would like to publicly thank my son Shaun, who, despite being exhausted, denied himself of sleep prior to doing a 12 hour night shift, in order to walk the streets with me for hours in our efforts to find Tippy. Thank you Sunshine. What a guy. And aren't we glad we were successful! My house and yard have always been thoroughly ferret-proofed for years as my fur-babies are all free range, but now they are much more burglar-proof. Heaven help me if I ever lock my keys inside as I leave for work because I think I will need dynamite to get back in. :-) Love & Dooks Shirley. PS Thank you BIG for making my incoherent, panic stricken posts make a little sense. [Posted in FML issue 3694]
