Lisette posted something about an FML calendar? Forgive me if I missed part of the conversation but what is it exactly? If it is anything as cool as what Jeanne Carley puts out, I want one too! As for me "representing" shelters to any entity, I don't feel that is what I am doing. If someone does not want to participate in the endeavor I have proposed (as a solution to euthanization), then don't. I have talked to MANY shelters who have specified that this would be of interest. YES, I am well-aware that shelters are over-crowded and that this would lead to more work, but there are many shelters I have talked to that would rather lend a hand than know that perfectly healthy ferrets are being euthanized. Am I a shelter? NO and I have NEVER been a shelter. I have not misrepresented this in any way, shape or form. If you need verification, go to the archives. To those of you who have expressed any disinterest in the solution I presented to Peter Reid, fine, nobody has "signed you up" or named any shelters as of yet, and there are some I wouldn't recommend. That, I imagine, would happen IF and when this idea is approved. Then, I am sure, Peter will be back in contact with me on ways to go about contacting shelters to see who would want to participate. I don't think this was unreasonable of me to suggest, since so many shelters have complained about the needless euthanization of ferrets at the farm level. Now those who have complained, will have the opportunity (hopefully) to help out with it until I can lobby for regulation/changes on this (which we know, takes forever with the politics involved). Geez, just going to the USDA website to try and find information on how farms are regulated is consuming quite a bit of my time. I finally gave up (their site is HUGE) and emailed someone two days ago about it. No reply yet. I am going to do as much as I have stated and I know others have tried and have "burned out". I am not that way, when I get involved in something, I do everything I promise. There has been discussion over ferrets' interests in xmas trees. Marley is the only one in my household who cares or shows interest. He goes up to the tree and will "bat" at ornaments (balls especially) with his two front paws. Jim and I laugh and laugh as we watch him (and I often have to get up and remove him from the area for fear of breaking ornaments). There are so many things I have missed out on not having a camcorder that now I am saving money so that I can buy one. There are just too many interesting and laughable things that these unique animals do. I LOVE IT! Have a great weekend! [Posted in FML issue 3632]
