I stopped in a pet store in Carrollton this Saturday called Pet Palace (they have been mentioned on this list before). I asked if they had any ferrets and they said yes that someone had dropped one off three days earlier because they couldn't handle the smell. The ferret looked to be full grown but was extremely skinny and definitely needed medical attention. On top of that, I don't think his nails had ever been clipped and he was being kept in a hamster cage with no place to sleep except for the wheel. The thing that bothers me the most is when I asked if I could hold him the person who worked there told me that if I wanted to I'd have to get him out myself because no one in the pet store would touch him because he bit. I went ahead and got him out and sure enough he bit (hard, but no blood). He was very scared and very shaky. They put out a sign in front of his cage that said 'I BITE'. I truly believe that this ferret has been given a raw deal. I believe that his previous owner didn't take care of him and now the pet store is treating him worse. And with the way they are showing him, he'll never find a good home. If there is anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area that can take this guy in, he is at the Pet Palace on the corner of Trinity Mills and Marsh in Carrollton. I would have already taken him, but my landlord has already told me that I cannot have anymore ferrets. Lisa [Posted in FML issue 3614]
