Hi, everyone, I'm hoping I can get some opinions about my ferret because I'm still fairly new to these guys. Bennett is a sable neutered MF boy, less than 1-1/2 y. Over the past month or two, he has started gaining a lot of weight. It seems like he's getting bigger every day. He's probably not even 3 lbs. and certainly not dragging his belly or anything, but just seems very, very big. He is one of my six ferrets, all of which are offered the same free choice food (primarily Ferret Store brand) and have the same opportunity for exercise (10-14 hours a day), but none of the other five seem to have gained any weight. Ben's a picture of health in every other respect. He's active, playful, eats, drinks, and poops just fine, his coat is long and soft and he is current on vaccinations. Could this be a seasonal weight gain that I shouldn't worry about? Does it sound like a diet is in order? Or should I have him checked to see if this is a side effect of a more serious condition? Thanks for any suggestions, Kara (under the supervision of Bennett, Bianca, Merlin, Anakin, Amidala, and O'Meara) [Posted in FML issue 3603]
