Wanted to say a "final" goodbye to all you good folks. (My 3 boys were adopted by a neighbor that I "found" who has three furkids). Almost all packed, but haven't sold the house, hopefully soon. The neighbor went away for the weekend and asked me to "sit" for the kids... telling me I would do a better job than her mom (who would just feed them and not even let them out). Well, DUH, jumped at the chance. I missed them sooo much. I let them all out yesterday and had an idea (from Sandee and the bridge). I've always "trained" them to come to the squeak and give a treat for doing so, but with so many of them... I was hit with the idea of putting out a small plate full of "tone" out and sat there watching them circle round it and lap it up. For some reason I had to think that it must be like that at the bridge...everyone sharing... it was adorable! One of them is a tiny little girl and during the day I would go in and out of my room where their "proofed" play place is. I'm in my office and I turn around and there was the girl... I was sure I had closed the door, how in h... did she slip by me...? FINALLY figured out she could get UNDER the door (my boys are too big for that!). Got a box and barricaded the door. Whew! What would my neighbor think and how would I feel if she got lost and I didn't even have a clue how it happened...???? THEN a little later I go in and one of the Shepherds is IN THE BEDROOM. He had pushed the adjoining bathroom door open. Frantic, I count noses. Only 3 out of SIX. My heart pounded and sure enough those little weasels made a bee line for the great outdoors, despite three yacking Shepherds. I threw the three I spotted into the cage, herded the dogs into the garage and grabbed the squeak ball and started squeaking and calling "TREAT"!!!!! My neighbors heard me (over the fence) and told me they thought they saw a "weasel". Long story short, two of the neighbors grabbed two of the kids, (I jumped over the fence to get them) and as I walked all the way around the block (couldn't make it back OVER the fence with my arms full of fuzzy) and came into the yard I saw this little butt sticking out under the garage wall (peeking at the dogs). I POUNCED on him and grabbed his little butt and FINALLY my heart went (a little) back to normal... about an hour later after a long, hot shower. Yeah, I MIGHT do a better job than her mom, maybe if I wasn't out of practice... Despite all the "antics" and close calls (and near coronaries) I will miss not having these guys in my life. I'm so glad I was able to find them a good home, tho.
