I know this is a bit early to ask but I thought I would while I am thinking about it before I forget to. :-) My friend and I are making cross stitch Christmas stuff and she wants me to try a real Christmas tree this year and then it dawned on me that I have ferrets... Is it okay to have real Christmas trees around ferrets? How do they react? Do they climb it? Are lights safe? (I don't use tinsel so that's okay...no sparkly silver stuff or garland to worry about...makes too much mess for me.) Being new to ferrets this year I have no idea what is in store for me. Do they go around undecorating the tree faster than you decorate or what? If so are there any you can buy or make that will stay on the tree? Or can't you even have them in the room with it at all??? I hope that's not the case because I don't know how in the world I can block that one...unless you guys have suggestions for that. Please share your Christmas experiences so I can kind of get a feel for what to expect. I got one other question...off topic but...how do you keep a cat from climbing the tree and knocking it down repeatedly??? I tried having a tree last year (fake) and my cat climbed it 3 times and knocked it down to the ground and broke quite a few ornaments. Is there a good way to make it so the cat can't do that??? So it will stand up under 9-11 lbs of kitty stress??? After the 3rd time I took it down and I didn't have a tree at all last year. After uprighting and redecorating 3 times I gave up. I would like one this year so any suggestions are VERY welcome. :-) Thanks. Faith [Posted in FML issue 3513]
