I know that Ferretguy does many wonderful things for ferrets and that he has had some ridiculous experiences with the authorities over his shelter, however, the post I read today left me puzzled. Yes, I agree that having volunteers is great and having people donate is great, however, sometimes people run short on funds just as you have or you would not be asking for donations. Again, I appreciate what you do for ferrets and I am sure that most of the FML realizes how dedicated you are. I just thought the post you made stating you are "disappointed" with previous volunteers might actually discourage their support rather than encourage it. More than likely, the reason you have seen less donations is because people are either strapped for cash themselves or perhaps they are travelling? You have every right to ask for donations, but after reading your post, it struck me as being more of a reprimand than a request for donations. Kudos to those who have helped your shelter, past and present. I hope you see more donations roll in. I know for me and past experience, I would much rather volunteer at the shelter than just throw money at it or I like to donate supplies instead. I will see what I can do, but I am trying to pay off vet bills also. Not a flame, just some feedback. Take care. [Posted in FML issue 3496]
