I don't usually write directly to the FML, I write directly to the person with a question, issue or whatever. However, this has been on my mind for a long time. I know breeding sounds like a good idea, but look at all the unwanted ferrets that end up at shelters, abandoned, left to starve and other horrible things. I have my cats and dogs spayed and neutered because there are too many of them roaming around. Do we want ferrets to become like all the euthanized, suffering, lost and unwanted cats and dogs out there? Please reconsider, there are so many unwanted ferrets out there that need homes first. Please don't add to the overpopulation of ferrets. Take that time and money, you will or have spent, to assist all the shelters out there. They are on the front lines fighting the overpopulation of unwanted ferrets. If you really want to help those pet store ferrets, spend your time finding homes for those already here and spend time educating those impulse buyers at the pet stores. There is a site that has brochures you can print out and give out. http://incolor.inetnebr.com/ferrets/brochures I know there are those that want to improve the breed, but look at the pedigree dogs and cats, they suffer the same fate as all the rest of the cats and dogs. We are here for the good of the ferrets, right now we cannot take care of all the ferrets that are here today. We can't stop the big breeders, but we can start from the bottom up by not contributing to the problem. Kim the Oregon one Kim Reyes John L.
