Just a quick note- (or maybe not so quick- LOL) to let everyone know that we are officially open. Anyone looking to adopt in central Florida or know of ferrets needing a shelter, feel free to contact us. It's already been busy around here and we are looking forward to doing our part, small as it may be. We currently have four ferrets in the shelter and 10 waiting for pick up in various areas. We we worried about one of our guys, Bear, having distemper as he showed many signs, so we asked for a hold on new arrivals. However, I am so pleased to report that Bear is doing GREAT!! Distemper seems to not be the case.. he's a sweet 3.5 yr old cinnamon and he's looking great! We will have the web site real soon... think I wrote that last time- LOL but we have been building shelves, cages, etc. to be ready for opening.. It is close and I'll let all of you know when it is up.. We do have an adrenal case in. Her name is Roxie. We got her three weeks ago from a family (with money) that did not want to pay the money for surgery. (grrr) She's an angel, around 4.5 sable MF. Her vulva is pretty swollen, but she's in good health otherwise. I wanted to let you all know of the fund raiser we are having for her.. For eveyone that donates 30.00 or more, we are sending out a free ferret hammock. We make ours out of a thick cloth- no synthetic fur. Size is about 20" X 12". We are also putting everyone's name who donates for Roxie into a drawing (regarless of amount). The name drawn will receive a 5# of Totally Ferret or a ferret gift bag of equal value- the winner's choice.. Donations can either be sent to the shelter or directly to our surgeon. If you do send a donation to our veterinarian- please let us know so we can send you your hammock if applicable and enter your name into the drawing.. Veterinarinan: West End Animal Hospital 15318 W.
