Last night I walked into the new Petco in our area to pick up some pictures I had taken of our fuzzies last week. Through a mixup, I ended up talking to the store manager. He saw that my pictures were of ferrets, and said he had something to show me. He proceeded to take me to the store room and show me the most beautiful little girl! He told me she had been found in a backyard in Greece near the new store. Supposedly the family had run an ad about her, but no one had claimed her and they were going out of town. With no where else to keep her, they gave her to the store about an hour before I got there. The manager was attempting to contact Sharon Pease, who runs an area shelter. Sharon works a crazy schedule and can be difficult to get in touch with. He told me if I wanted her, I could take her. We already have 3, which I thought was my limit :), so I hesitated a little. I knew in the back of my mind that if I felt I could not keep her, I could get in touch with either Sharon or Pat, another shelter operator here. Pat has been helping me with one of my other ferrets who is sick right now, so I gave her a call when I came home. I was concerned about ear mites and bringing disease to my other babies. Pat took me over to the Brockport Animal Hospital, where she works, and got me the necessary medication for her ears. This ferret is well groomed (freshly trimmed nails) with a beautiful coat and the most pleasant personality. She gives tons of kisses! She is an MF baby and appears to be about a year old according to Pat and Mary (at BAH). Petco said this is how she was brought to them. It seems like either she was not outdoors very long or the family who found her really was doing their best to care for her. As much as I would love to keep her, I would imagine somewhere her owner is looking for this beautiful little girl. If anyone is missing this little one or hears of someone who is, please have them call me. My number is 716-352-0207. She is being well cared for, and is seperated from the others until I can get her into Dr. Edwards. Pat agreed to take her should her owner not be found and I feel I cannot keep her.
