So many of you responded privately and on list as to why 3 ferrets are a good idea. Nearly all had the same thoughts. If one passes away, the 2 remaining have someone to grieve WITH. Makes perfect sense. At some point we plan to add another, after I read a bit more and research the best way to go about it. For now, we are occupied by a sick older kitty. He and his sister have never been apart till he spent the night at the vet. She sat on our head and cried all night, and has been trying to tell us Mumsie doesn't feel well. The part of pet parenting we all hate, dealing with it one day at a time. If I don't get back to each of you privately, please accept this as a personal thank you for taking the time to contact me. One other thing I am learning about my ferrets, they seem quite emotional. The other day I was sitting and playing with them, The Kidd jumped up on my leg just as I swung their toy on a string. He and my hand collided mid air and he must have thought I hit him. He went around to the far side of his tunnel box and whimpered, a definite cry I had never heard either one of them make. Picked him up for kisses, but it did put the damper on play time. Then yesterday after sitting with the kitty trying to get him to eat a little, feeling very frustrated and sad when he wouldn't, decided to go in and let the ferrets cheer me up. Parris came over and asked to be picked up. Gave her a little snuggle, put her on my lap and she bit me. Not as bad as the first time and she let go on her own. I know she felt my stress over the kitty. Hopefully today will be better for all of us. In Touch, Ardith Mailto:[log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 3456]
