Dear Steve, My first suggestion is that you learn their language (LOL).... your ferrets are speaking to you but you're obviously not understanding.... how many times DO they have to tell you which corners they want a litterbox in? Seriously, though, the only way to stop them from using those corners is to place something in the corner so that it's not a corner anymore. First, clean the area well using white vinegar. (There are more expensive deodorizers but none of them work as well on urine odors!)If it's carpeted, soak the area with white vinegar mixed 50:50 with water. Soak up the vinegar water, rinse with clear water twice. (Towels can be used to soak up the water.) Allow carpeting to dry before placing anything on the area. You can place food and water bowls in those corners after cleaning. Or you can try putting a sleep box there. It's a cardboard box sealed up with a "mousehole" cut in the front and a used sleep blanket inside... it's important that the box smells like a ferret sleeping place so be sure to include unlaundered ferret bedding. If you want something a little fancier, you can paint the box or use a plastic storage container (16-18 quart size) in a color to coodinate with the room. (Which can also be used for discrete litter boxes!) Good Luck Debi Christy Ferrets First Foster Home [Posted in FML issue 3422]
