Hi all, Just a reminder that our 6th annual ferret fun day is coming up on Sunday, May 20th from 10-4 at the North Conway Community Center in North Conway, NH. Admission is free and we will require proof of ferret vaccinations, so don't forget to bring your forms. We have many ferret shelters and clubs in attendance and we ran out of table space early on. These vendors have lots of neat ferret stuff that you won't find elsewhere. Check it out! For details on the day, go to our web site and check out the Ferret Fun Day page. Included on that page is a link to the schedule for the day, so you can see just which contests are being held (and what to practice for!!) The website is www.ferretservices.com We can use donations of cakes for our cake auction if anyone feels particularly inclined. Just make sure to put it on a dish that you don't want back. Also, a brief summary of the name of the cake and the ingredients would be helpful for our auctioneer. If you would like to donate a cake, please contact me, so that I can tell you which types of cakes we already have lined up. Our walkathon is at noon and will consist of a short walk around the park. If you would like to participate, you must contact me for a form. This walkathon will be called the Lily & Barney Memorial Walkathon in memory of Lily and Barney who died this past Monday. It is open to anyone who would like to walk in memory of a ferret they have lost. It's a fundraiser for the rescue programs here at the shelter, so that we can continue to rescue and work with the abused/neglected/sick ferrets who might otherwise be put down if they didn't have a loving ferret shelter to take them. The walk will take all of 15 minutes of your time. Please consider walking! Another new event this year is the rescue recognition. We will have a small item of appreciation for those who have adopted a ferret or ferrets from any shelter. Limited to one per family, the gift bag contains treats for humans and ferrets alike. All ferret owners are encouraged to adopt from a shelter instead of purchasing from a pet shop, in an effort to provide those older and loveable ferrets a good home too. Usually those shelter ferrets have done nothing to deserve being dropped off--it is their owners who no longer have time for them or who can't keep up with their care. These special ferrets are sweet and loveable too! We will have a ferret photographer on site too. Professional photos will be taken of your ferret. The price includes shipping. We are offering this service to you. We do not receive any proceeds from this service in any way. This is our biggest annual fundraiser for the shelter. Its purpose is NOT to boost our egos or to toot our own horn. It is to celebrate YOU--ferret lovers everywhere--and to provide a forum for you to get together with other ferret owners and have a good time. I hope you will be able to join us this year.
