When I found my little buddy, Doobie, I was riding my mountain bike with my friend. We rode by a cemetary located on a university campus (right next to a dorm that doesn't allow pets) when my friend heard a noise behind him. When he looked he saw a less-than-year-old nearly starved ferret chasing after us out of the cemetary. He befriended us immediately and I gave him a home. I posted signs (though admittedly not very extensively) and spread the word around that I had found him. He got his shots, a very nice cage, and very loving parents who nursed him back to health. My theory is that a kid in a dorm got caught with the illegal pet, and rather than finding a good home left him in the woody cemetary to fend for himself. I am astonished that anyone could be so cruel to dump a juvenile domestic ferret, let alone watch one starve. I would personally like to meet this little girl, and her parents, that would be willing to kill a pet so slowly and painfully. Sick, sad world we live in... Bill [Posted in FML issue 3417]
