Coccidia are species specific (zoonotic implies transmission to man). Ferrets have their own coccidia, which are not shared by dogs or cats, which they frequently cohabit with. Lizard coccidia may be infective to other lizards, but your ferrets are spared infection. Now your ferrets may ingest the coccidial oocysts (eggs) and they can conceivably be identified in the stool, but active infection will not occur. With kindest regards, Bruce H.
