On Friday I noticed one of our ferrets, Scamp, running by with a green dragon stuffed toy in his mouth. I know that this is Tanner's favorite, no-one-else-had-better-touch-this, toys, but Tanner was otherwise occupied at the time and never noticed. Scamp scampered up the stairs and stashed the dragon in his hiddy-hole in the linen closet. A few minutes later, Duncan ran down the stairs with the green dragon, then proceeded to stash it under the ramp in the second story of the 4 story cage. A few minutes later, Tupper ran across the floor with said green dragon, heading to hide it in the sleep box. Then Ollie decided that the sleep box was not suitable for a green dragon, so he hid it under the futon. Once Tanner discovered that HIS dragon was missing, he went ballistic, dashing round and round until finally he stumbled over it. Out it came and back to Tanner's hiddy-hole. Within a few minutes, there went Scamp again, green dragon in his mouth. Joan and I watched this poor dragon going round and round, up and down, and decided that perhaps they needed a few more toys. Saturday we went to Goodwill and bought a large bag of stuffed animals (no plastic or rubber parts). They were only $0.49 - $-0.99 each, and gave us quite an assortment. The next morning we set it in the middle of the floor while the ferrets were just getting up. They were like little kids at Christmas; jumping up and down in excitement before tearing into the bag. Within minutes not a toy was to be seen; all had been stashed in various hiddy-hole around the house. While we were basking in the glory of finally getting one step ahead of the ferrets, Scamp ran from Tanner's hiddy-hole with one of Tanner's new toys in his mouth, headed for the linen closet.
