Hi everyone!, this is my first time writing to the list, I've been reading it on and off for a while and have noticed a few other people (well, their ferrets) with the same problem. A while ago while picking up some poop in a corner I noticed it was kind of green. That worried me quite a bit so I kept checking and everything seemed fine. But over the last few weeks(3 or so)I've noticed it quite often. Its dark green almost black, but when you pick it up with a paper towel it smears bright green it also has white spongy looking peices of something in it, very small. Her stool isn't loose infact it looks normal without a close up inspection.(sorry if this is gross) I took her and it to a vet recently and even though he seems to be good with ferrets he says it's nothing to worry about, and that he sees that every so often in ferrets. I really didn't feel comfortable with that answer. Heres some ferret history, I hope some one can give me a better answer. She's a 2 year old MF female. spayed and descented of course.(She's the twin of the ferret on the ferrettone bottle.)She weighs 1 pound. She had a very stressful childhood, she was starved and mistreated by a "person" before i got her which was a little more than a year ago. Shes still very, very active, she has a good build, but is thinner than most ferrets, maybe just in shape. she really dosn't appear to be sick but the color of her stool really bothers me. shes up for about 6 hours a day,. umm.. she eats eukanuba kitten food, she dosn't like MF food, and there are no other foods avalible in my area except cheap walmart brands. Some times she steals my dogs food, which is iams. I give her ferretone and ferretvite as treats, she wont eat anything else, but she only gets a little of one of those a day as a morning treat. shes been sheding But it's been getting warmer. I live in flordia, she stays inside but when its warm I open the doors and windows. I hope thats some decent information. If anybody thinks this is a valad concern and knows what would make her stool like this, please write me. I don't read the list very often anymore because I am a senior in collage, but if you E-mail me I will be sure to read your letters. Oh, I do have another ferret, Luna, who is also adopted, her stool is completly diffrent. It's more loose and more orange in color. (sorry I know this is gross) shes less active and has a budda belly, but they eat the same food. They're my two sweet sisters of evil. Emma is my first ferret and lunas my second and I love them to death, I can't imagine loosing either one of them! Emma likes to steal wallets, dosn't matter what it's made of or if it has money in it or not, shell climb in your purse, bag, or pocket and steal it away, she could be quite profitable don't you think? Luna just likes to push her way through things. Like bags, sheets, trashcans, doors, shes dug up all the carpet by my doors, I can't keep them closed because she won't stop trying to go through them. I don't think shes very smart for a ferret. Emma's a genius, but not Luna. AH! they're so cute! well I've bored you all :)I hope someone can help Emma out or atleast make me less paranoid. Thanks! Monica, Emm! a and Luna. [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 3369]
