Danee... >there are more issues, like the need for all shelters to start testing >programs, that need to be addressed, and maybe now is a good time to start >addressing that as well. We can not afford to lose anymore shelters, and >we must not forget those that are providing care for the ADV+ ferrets i have had a concern about this for a while...i am sure you are aware that most shelters run on a shoestring basis...not a cent to spare... so HOW are they going to afford testing even 2-3 times a year on 40-50-60 ferrets?... at even the multiple rate...that is $400.00-$500.00-$600.00!!! that would be devastating even ONCE! sure..you can say...add that cost to the adoption fees...but so many DON'T get adopted...what then?..the shelter eats the cost of that too... yes..i DO agree...EVERY ferret going INTO and OUT OF a shelter should be tested...but shelters are going to need a break to be able to do it... they can not depend on donations...there needs to be a shelter break in the cost of the testing...at least a healthy discount...preferably free to shelters... they can not absorb these costs... a concerned kat KITY= .. =KAT...
