OK, here we go again. I let a post through yesterday entitled "Giggles & Cricket/ A plea for prayers". Bad move on my part. Let me explain. The post opened up an argument which I had to take off the FML a few months ago. Never in all my years working on the FML did I recall an argument getting so nasty so quickly. I was even told CUNY may be involved in legal action. Since the arguing was clearly going nowhere, it was time to take it off the FML. And then all was ok (on the FML) -- for a while. Well, I should have paid more attention. You see, I try to stay out of these squabbles and just forward the posts along: It's not up to me to decide what it is correct and, indeed, when I receive one of these "he said... she said..." posts I glance over it to be sure it doesn't contain severe flames or other inappropriate material and pass it on to the digest if all seems ok. I don't get into the details for a reason: I don't want to form an opinion so that I can remain as neutral as possible when dealing with subscribers. I'm not a judge; I'm not a jury. Instead, I facilitate the exchange of information. And I strive to do that as fairly as possible. So, yeah, this was a similar situation. Different ferrets. Same people. Same crazy bickering. And it got past me. So, what to do? Well, any printable responses which came in today got posted. And I forwarded today's posts to the other main player, Jackie Hawley, so she could present her side of the story in this same FML if she chose to. Fortunately, she answered quickly with a post and now I can once again close the topic. I feel I've given both sides a chance to respond while minimizing the damage. I hope this will be the end of it. Thank you all for your understanding. Bill [Posted in FML issue 3328]
