Today I witnessed some extremely bizarre behavior in one of my furchins and I am wondering if anyone else here has seen anything like this. My cable was acting up so the cable company sent a tech out to check it out. When he came all 3 of them came running to check out the new person here. Usually when I know a stranger is coming I put them in their cage for fear of an AWOL ferret. He came earlier than expected so they were out free. Merlin took one sniff of the cable tech and went ballistic!!! His whole body puffed up and he was barking and hissing at the same time. I had never seen anything like that so there I stood staring. He threw himself at the man numerous times. It's a good thing he had heavy jeans on or he'd be missing a couple of chunks from both his calves. I scooped Merlin up and put him in their room. He proceeded to throw himself at the door over and over. When the tech left I let Merlin back out and he was still upset. His tail was huge. He stomped around smelling wherever the man had been hissing the whole time. Normally Merlin is a fun-loving, easy-going little critter. There have been many people in and out of my home but I have never seen a reaction like this. It took him quite awhile to calm down. I am truly baffled by this behavior and I am curious if anyone has ever seen anything like this. I really like to know what was going through his little head. The other 2 were fine with the tech....no reaction from them whatsoever. Any thoughts? Diddy [Posted in FML issue 3330]
