Hi--

My vet says my female ferret has a urinary tract infection and has been
treated on and off for months with mostly amoxylan(sp) and clavomax. It
keeps returning. He said to bring her back in 10 days. I'll be calling
the vet Monday. She is 18 mos old, had 1 litter of kits and has been
spayed. She normally lives with a larger playgroup of 4 other ferrets,
but is isolated right now. She is still eating just fine. All three kits
are healthy and approximatley 6 mos old and showing no health problems,
and in another home.

Right now she is suffering from urine scald burns and continues to have
the lower quarter of her body constantly soaked. I'm treating the skin
infection with an antibiotic cream, Corisone 10. I think I'd like to seal
the open sore skin with super glue if that won't cause more problems than
it solves.

I bought a bag of Purina Pro Plan cat unrinary tract maintenenace. She
doesn't seem to like it and the first ingredient is yellow corn, second
chicken, third rice, fourth beef tallow and the percentages are a bit off.
What might be more appropriate. I normally feed, Eukanaba Kitten Chix &
Rice, Premium Edge Chix and Rice and The Ferret Store's Superior choce.

Meanwhile, what suggestions can I get to help keep her comfortable and
what is stronger than the amoxy and perhaps even better than clavomax that
might help. What tips will help for the long run.
