After reading Dawn's '"heart felt story". I had to get into this subject. There is always two sides to the story. I never met Dawn but I do know of the others she has written about. I'm a current member of FROLIC and a foster mom for the shelter In the Company of Ferrets. I have been to Laura's home many times. At any time of the day 6:00 in the morning when I was droping off one of MY kids for her to take to the vet that day for surgery because I had to work and could not make the appointment. Yes there was few poopies on the floor but not dirty. By god she just woke up and she has a group she calls the kitchen kids running loose in her kitchen it does take her a little while to clean up after those kids. I know for a fact that all the cages are cleaned everyday in both Laura and Nancy homes As far as meds or medical care for my foster kids costs are paid for by the shelter. And if I need anything else such as food, cages and bedding that will also be supplyed by the shelter. It has been a year since I joined this shelter and net work. I thank god everyday that I found this people. She let me cry alot when I lost 4 ferret kids/1 cat/1 dog this year. And as far as putting kids to sleep I personaly was there when 2 of the foster kids in my care(came in sick) had to be helped to the bridge. She didn't like doing it but both were beyond any vets help to be kind they had to be helped across. Thank you Laura and Nancy for letting me know the love these little kids give even if its for a short time until they find a good home or pass to the bridge. They will have a place in my heart. Deb and the 8 is not enought crew(Merlin/Wizard/Dale-Turbo/Jet/Rosie-Kit and Maggie) and the very loved and cared for foster kids. [Posted in FML issue 3250]
