Lisette- My vet (for whom I also used to work) does in fact wash her hands thoroughly with surgical scrub before seeing each patient, and the exam tables get wiped down with disinfectant solution then sprayed and allowed to dry between each patient. Because the sink is not in the exam rooms the patient's owners do not see her washing her hands, and the tables are done in between as well. Even her ex-husband, with whom she used to be in practice, used these techniques, and I do NOT consider him the greatest vet in the world. I can't speak for all vets, but there are at least 2 vets in the world who use proper disinfecting technique (tongue firmly in cheek). You asked. Jamie [Posted in FML issue 3233]
