The only measure is quality of life he will have after surgery. If he is a good candidate for the surgery and will he survive it? How long will he live? I have a 9 yr old rescue ferret, named Lucky, who had a broken spine. He has recently taken a turn for the worse after some dental surgery, but his quality of life has been good for the last 7 yrs. If he recovers from his weight loss, his quality of life should continue, as long as he can stay healthy. KG [Posted in FML issue 3233]
