Hi everyone - I have a question that needs some answering before I do it. My three ferrets all have colds and are coughing a bit. Everyone is normal (eating, playing...) except their is some coughing in all three of them. They are a bit congested - they were at the vet about two weeks ago and he wanted to try to not use medication becaue it is a "cold" - no fevers or anything. Anyway, he is not my ferret vet but at the time he is all I could afford and I trust him complelty. I called again today because one is done coughing but my other two are still coughin abit. I think it bothers me to hear them cough more than anything, but he said that i can put them on 6mg on benedryl 2x a day. I just wanted to make sure that others agree with this medicatgion. I know ferrets can get benedyrl, but want to make sure the amoutn is good. It is just that he do esn't deal with ferrets all that often and before I start doing it, I want to make sure it is okay. I am just a bit paranoyed - I really trust him - he has been treating my other animals for over 20 years - it is just that my ferrets are so delicate - and one has adreanal and another insolomnia and she is on pediapred also. He knows all of this, I think I am just looking to hear from you guys that the benedryl is okay for them. I knwo most of you are not vets, but many times other ferret owners have dealt with simialr situations before. Thanks Amy [Posted in FML issue 3204]
