In the Wall Street Journal today is an interesting article. Poultry
treated with the two drugs Baytril and SaraFlox appears to be increasing
the resistance of a number of human diseases to drugs.

I mention this on our FML because in 1999, 17.6 percent of cases of
campylobacter infections which cause gastrointestinal problems were
resistant to fluoroquinolones-up sharply from 13.6 percent in 1998.

It is very possible our ferrets may also have a problem fighting
gastrointestinal problems =as they are exposed to the same antibiotics put
in the chicken they eat.

I am saving this article to show my vet incase I see pawing of the mouth
or vomiting or anything indicating a possible gastrointestinal problem.

Anyone thinking my logic is wrong-feel free to discuss this. I just write
of this as I have been reading over the last year of a number of ferrets
with possible gastrointestinal problems.
