Hi-- Hobbes, a 1 yr old sable male, is my son's ferret and one of almost 20 who live with us. Hobbes is a high energy, very mischievious and overly playful ferret. As long as he's allowed out of the cage, he will do his best to stay awake and play and explore. Hobbes likes people to play with him, and occassionally gets over excited and forgets about not biting the toes and fingers too hard. Never breaks the skin, but it hurts. He is very familiar with the semll of bitter apple on shoes and pant legs, and its usually enough of a reminder for him. He's too much of the climber/jumper to be confined to a room or a playpen and can only have playtime when someone is home. Today I found Hobbes playing with a rabbit shaped rattle from the baby activity blanket I bought this summer at a yard sale. I had read online it is a great ferret toy and activity center. Most of my ferrets just like to curl up and sleep in it, under it or fold it up and sleep in it. Hobbes has been activily playing with the toys on it, putting things in the pockets and has started on a campaign to gather together all his treasures from the hidey holes and put them out on the blanket. So far we have bunny rattle, a white sock and 2 jingle eggs. He has been crawling under the blanket, rolling on it and actively playing around it.He leaves on a ferret mission, only to return a few minutes later to check on his blnaket and play again. Even the dog has been using it today as place to sleep and spread out, prefering it over her own bed, that is kept in the living room. KG Lookes like when Hobbes playtime is over, he'll get the blanket put in his cage to help keep him entertained. [Posted in FML issue 3207]
