This handy website will give you the conversion rate for any amount of money: http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/exchform.htm *** This is the Canada customs website. It seems that what you need is proof of rabies vaccination. <home page:> http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/ <specific link>: http://www.cfia-acia.agr.ca/english/anima/heasan/import/foxese.shtml An import permit issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is required for the import of these animals from all countries, with the exception of ferrets being imported from the United States. For personal pets, these animals must have been in the owner's personal possession in the country of origin and accompany the owner to Canada. ***Ferrets from the United States may enter Canada without an import permit if a vaccination certificate signed by an accredited veterinarian is presented at the port of entry and attests that these animals have been vaccinated against rabies within the year preceding the date of import. *** A certificate of rabies vaccination must accompany any pets over three months of age brought into Canada. Seeing Eye dogs are exempt from this requirement. POINTS TO REMEMBER: Police radar detectors are illegal in Ontario and seat-belt use is mandatory. **** The US Customs info is a bit harder to decipher: http://www.customs.gov/travel/travel.htm "TRAVELERS FREQUENTLY INQUIRE ABOUT TAKING THEIR PETS WITH THEM TO THE UNITED STATES. All such importation are subject to health, quarantine, agriculture, wildlife, and customs requirements and prohibitions. Pets taken out of the United States and returned are subject to the same requirements as those entering for the first time." I couldn't find anything about ferrets specifically, but at least for dogs, proof of rabies vaccination is necessary. Anyway, the website is not quite as clear as its Canadian counterpart.
