Ferretstock, hosted by Ferretwise shelter in New Hampshire, was fantastic! As always, Alicia and Dino and all the wonderful Ferretwise volunteers worked very hard to put together a really wonderful day. I especially enjoyed the blessing of the animals, and the beautiful hearts made by Mary Cohen which every ferret who attended the blessing received. (All the at-home ferrets who couldn't come got blessed too :-) Ela's soapmaking demo was great. Who knew soapmaking could be so much fun! (somehow I think it's gotten easier since colonial days :-) The Reiki presentation was really interesting, and fuzzies in the know had their cards read too! The ferret contests were lots of fun (Jan of Gimme Shelter has an Olympic caliber floppy duck champion), there were loads of terrific raffle and silent auction prizes (including some Skip Martin cages) and the food was great! Lots of fun photos in the photo contest and some pretty wild looking 60s-70s outfits (Cindy and Randy and their very patiently outfitted Vermont ferrets, those Ferret Sock ferrets, Jerry Garcia ferret and his flower child ferret, and the girl whose name I didn't catch with the wonderful 60s style outfit and matching ferret; hope I didn't leave anyone out!!) Some very impressive ferret tattoos too!!!! Even a vintage VW Beetle. Besides raising money for Ferretwise and other shelters, Ferretstock brought lots of people and ferrets together for a very enjoyable day in the beautiful NH countryside (foliage already starting to change colors...) LOTS OF HARD WORK goes into making a day like this fun for the participants (who came from far and wide--including Pennsylvania and even New Brunswick!!) I know Roxanne and Merlin are still sleeping it off--I assume all the Ferretwise folks are too!!!!! P.S. Great music too--kudos to the DJ! [Posted in FML issue 3171]
