The site I brought to everybody's attention on Marshall Farms is excellent and DOES contain new material. It was written that it was the same old, same old. I highly recommend that you read it if you are concerned about the plight of puppy mill ferrets. What was of particular importance to me, despite the various topics, was that the USDA seems to be basically worthless. I was really dismayed for all animals upon learning about the USDA in this article. Why are there not more citations on Marshall Farms than there have been if they are so awful throughout the years? Read this article to find out. Go to Excite.com, and type in The Marshall Farms Story. The good news is that the USDA is being sued for their atrocious conduct by the Doris Day Animal League. You can go to their site via AskJeeves.com to find your congress person, and his or her name, address, and e-mail address to let them know how you feel about Marshall Farms and other puppy mills for ferrets. I was basically called a liar because I wrote that Dr. Susan Brown is our ferret expert. You are not to believe any of the articles on Marshall Farms found on the web because I lied about Dr. Brown? There was not even any logic to this, and I seriously thought about not responding to someone mud slinging. However, I think some of you will be delighted when I tell you about this. You know the show-The Greatest Ferret Show on Earth- coming up in Chicago that so many of us love? It is there because of our GCFA -the Greater Chicago Ferret Association. Guess who started the GCFA? Our Dr. Susan Brown and Janice Miller. For those of us that get the GCFA shelters newsletter, whose articles we have been reading for years? Dr. Susan Brown wrote all of those. Mary of FAIR tells me that she wrote all of those specifically for GCFA-the shelter that Dr. Brown founded. WOW Dr. Brown-who is semi retired now-has been an exotic specialist for 16 years. She has spoken all over the country, specifically to other vets on ferrets at ferret veterinarian conferences. She has spoken also in England and Scotland at ferret vet conferences. She is co-author of a book dedicated half to rabbits, and half to ferrets. She wrote all of the book pertaining to ferrets. I have given away most of my books, as I wrote months ago. Can a GCFA member recall the exact name of the book? Mary of FAIR is sure of this fact also, but her books are in storage since her move. (By the way-for those of you that have one of my books that has finished with it-I hope that you have passed it on to someone else to read.) STAR listed Dr. Brown at the Midwest Exotic Animal Hospital for several years. Dr. Browns name is still first on the list of vets at Midwest despite her 3 years leave of absence for personal reasons. She is revered there. As I have written, I called the list of vets STAR recommended within a 50 mile radius in both 1998 and 1999, and spoke personally with the vets recommended concerning ferret surgeries. Most all referred me to Dr. Brown at Midwest Exotic Animal Hospital. Dr. Brown IS a renowned ferret expert. She goes beyond FML popularity. She is someone who has made an impact on all ferret owners by the information she has shared with other veterinarians throughout the country and in England and Scotland.
