Hello all my ferret lovers. I have a question that has been on my mind
since Sept 5th when I went to my vet because one of my ferrets was losing
weight, grinding his teeth and not eating on his own or drinking. He had
this past Feb an ulcer that was treated with carfate, Pepto Bismo and
another medicine. In less then three days he began to eat and drink on
his own back in Feb. This past Labor day week end I noticed he was once
again not eating and drinking and grinding his teeth as he was in Feb. I
called my vet even though it was a holiday and he told me to bring him in
the next day and give him Pepto and try and make him eat Gerber Turkey
food. I did and then brought him in the next day. He has an ulcer again
only this time here is it four weeks later and he still wont eat his
regular ferret food or drink on his own. I am now wondering if ulcers can
re-occur this quickly and if they don't respond to the meds then what can
be done? I am calling my vet later today and will be telling him once more
my ferret still will not eat his normal ferret food and the meds are all
finished. I just was wondering if anyone ever had a ferret with an ulcer
that came back and the meds this time do not seem to help.I guess what I
need here is someone who had had the same thing happen to their ferret with
an ulcer..any suggestions how to make sure this time the ulcer stays away??
I am beside myself I cant understand how or why his ulcer wont go away with
all of the meds he was taking for over four weeks. If anyone knows of a
medicine that might work better please email me privately the name. I
appreciate all of your help and support..Oh one last thing the name of the
medicine he was on for his ulcer is or was as he has nor more left is :
metronidazole ..

thanks for all of your help ..
