Greetings to all fuzzies and their pets! A couple of weeks ago I sent a message to the FML asking people's opinions on what could be causing a swollen vulva in a barely year old female and if anyone knew of a vet experienced in ferrets. The response was considerable and I know I didn't answer all the emails directly, but I wanted to say thank you now. Because of all your responses my little girl received the best care possible. I was refered to Dr. Karen Purcell and I brought Snow White to her yesterday morning. What we both were hoping for, ovarian remnants, was unfortunately not the case. Dr. Purcell had to remove her left adrenal gland. The operation was a success and Snow White is recovering quickly and is almost back to her feisty self in under 24 hours. I accredit this to Dr. Karen and her incredible skill/expertise with ferrets. I knew I would have to face this some day, but I never expected it so soon. She began showing signs a month ago, but it had been developing for 1 -2 months before that, which means she was only 9 months old when it began. I hope someday the research will discover the cause for adrenal, so young and old alike will never have to experience such a thing again. Thank you FML, you have become my extended family. And like any family, I wanted to share my gratitude and good news with all of you. Take care of those fuzzies and give them teddy bear hugs and butterfly kisses for me.
