Hummm, First off I'm a rather nice guy BUT you never want to get my full attention if you know what I mean. Lets go down the line in a logic order. First off they want your money and you are in control with that established what are your rights. First off a creditor can under the law be told not to call you at home or at work or bother your relatives or friends and that all issues have to be written and mailed to you. Next, (to be hard core) you have the right to PROTEST at this vets office you can not block his door or obstruct people from getting in to the office but FOR EXAMPLE you can have a posterboard hanging in front of you and on the back of you and march up and down on the sidewalk in front of the business stating facts and your opinion. VET KILLED MY PET negligence (sp) VET wants money don't threaten me/family at home/work with phone calls !!!pet had 6 hour long seizure!!! I would call up the vet front desk and tell them you want to speak to some one in charge and that first person I would start the rumors flowing in the office. 6 hour long seizures don't happen except with poisoning and the office is now calling wanting 'more' monies for a botched up job. I'm thinking of getting a permit to protest (some places require permits) in front of your office. I'm also considering filing a complaint with the better business bureau. Do vets have a licensing review board? to complain to? I'm thinking of filing a couple of legal suites in these issues of severe neglect for not only monies in small claims court but in a larger court (as I recall if fail to appear in small claims court you win but little chance you get to collect [cold hard facts of life].) Also I am considering placing an add in the paper concerning the vet to get my self satisfaction of my pet ferret is dead and all you are is hard core telling me to pay the bill or get sued. Now if I don't get action I may walk with a double sided poster in front of the clinic which I have already checked with the local ordinances which is legal to protest and if I don't get it solved I will use my telephone and start calling the local TV radio and papers and get some publicity. You charged over $600 for an exploratory operation when you couldn't diagnose that my beloved pet was a diabetic/islamitic do you understand those words? condition and had multiple seizures lasting hours!!! I took the pet to another vet but by then it was to late and still your vet told that 60 was a fine reading, just put karo on the gums and the poor thing wouldn't have suffered and now you want $300 plus MORE dollars from me........... From IMO when they say sue they mean it goes to a collection agency which means that even if you pay (which means that you admit to being guilty) the vet only gets 50% so the vet would much rather try to strong arm you and get the full amount. I like the go for the throat if you have time to walk the sidewalk :)and get it over quickest. The other way is to ask them what court action will this be filed under and what happens when it goes to court and how do you then dispute it with and who makes the judgement. Then and start reversing filing paperwork the fees to cover both courts are less than $50 one for small claims court and the higher court you have to file under and meet stipulations to be of some cost higher than whatever the limit is and then if that grounds don't work then whatever the stipulations need to meet. The reason I know a little of the latter was I loaned out a computer system and had problems getting it back. Had to serve papers etc. Takes months. And if you win small claims court there is little chance you will get paid. The second court is for as I recall is for ummm things that might qualify for jail which the vets business might not qualify or might???. Where you file the papers will tell you what qualifies and $600 plus other bills loss you might have to get the total to $1,250 or more in your state. [Posted in FML issue 3119]
