Warp's appointment went well and she's had a big long set of x-rays. She's having enough trouble that she was rehydrated with sub-q as well as x-rayed. Had been expecting with the rapid weight loss, the difficulty with food, the need for vertical eating posture, etc. that it would possibly be megaesophagus, or that she had torn again in her small intestines form her autoimmmune thing, but it appears to be something much easier (the same thing it wasn't when her intestines tore): she's just developing an ulcer. She did the easy and safer option for once! She's on helicobacter meds, and may have to have another added later. First we'll go with her three standards and vertical feeding for three days to give it a chance to heal a bit, then we'll try horizontal eating again with her. If she refluxes with that then she will have another med that will help on that score, too. Very, very good news; it's a happy time here right now. (Guess with this, the operation Joe Martins recently did for her at the Basking Ridge Animal Hospital (N.J.) --multiple surgeries for adrenal and for torn small intestine, she's run about $1,100 in the last month or two. It happens. She's worth it.) [Posted in FML issue 3070]
