We've been staying out of this thread, because I have too many bad memories. We used to let our ferrets loose in the car, and didn't have any problems - until the day that I slammed the car door and got my little girl Ariel in it. She died 24 hours later because of my carelessness and her curiosity. Never again. Ferrets belong in carriers or cages when in vehicles. If we are traveling with ferrets and have to stop to eat, we always leave the vehicle running with the air conditioner on for them. (Here's where it helps to have duplicate sets of keys.)
