Our website has finally been updated to add the following fuzzies up for adoption. The pictures are posted on the site also. You can go to www.animalsforawareness.org/adoptme.htm to view them. We always get so excited to see a pair go home and then a TRIO comes in the next day <sigh>. Two steps forward and three steps back! If you reside in Illinois or NW Indiana and are interested in any of these beautiful kids, please e-mail me privately. All are healthy and none have been exposed to ECE. Unless noted, all of these ferrets get along with other ferrets and cats. Elmo and Booka - Elmo is a big stunning cinnamon male who can be quite nippy if he doesn't get a lot of playtime. This big boy is descended from Canadian bloodlines and is about 3 years old. Booka is a petite dark sable who won't go anywhere without Elmo. Booka gives kisses instead of nips. She's a real sweetheart and is also about 3 years old. They have impeccable litter habits in the cage! Both were given up because the owners didn't feel they had enough time to devote to these two beauties! They MUST be adopted together to an experienced ferret home with people who understand how to properly and lovingly care for nippy fuzzbutts. Elmo DOES NOT get along with most other ferrets except for Booka! Extra playtime is required for this pair! Snow - Snow is a gorgeous little girl in serious need of TLC!! She's a fluffy albino about a year old. Snow and her cage mate Widget came to us about 7 months ago and waited patiently the whole time for their dad to come pick them up. You see, the dad went out of town for a week and left them at the clinic. On his way home, he got into a serious car accident. After several weeks in the hospital and a month more recuperating he failed to come pick up his furkids, as well as his other pets, despite his promising to do so! As a result, these 2 girls went without the critical gentle human handling they so desperately needed! Snow and Widget were adopted out, but Snow came back a month later due to her biting and the people's lack of time to help her with her problem. She is very playful and active and unafraid of people. Snow gets along well with other ferrets, but can become very aggressive towards people, especially after just being scruffed. She must be adopted to an experienced ferret home only - Preferably a home with another ferret already in it. Gentle consistent handling, patience and TLC will turn this beauty into a wonderful family member! Snow is currently housed with Fidget, Sybil and Buster. Buddy, Josie and Coco - This blue-ribbon trio just came into AFA at the beginning of May. All three of them are absolutely stunning! Buddy is a very big boy who is estimated to be between 2 and 3 yrs old. He was purchased at Petland in Rockford, IL where he'd been returned by the previous owner due to claims of aggression. So far, he's only shown typical ferret silliness here. His coat is a plush light chocolate sable with a very light undercoat. He's simply beautiful! Josie is approximately 2 1/2 yrs old and very similar in color to Buddy. However, she has shetland features with pure white knees and a marbled white bib. Josie came from the same Petland that Buddy came from. She is playful and friendly with people and other ferrets. Coco is the smallest of the bunch, but just as pretty. She is the lightest colored of these chocolate sables. Coco Came from a Petco in Dekalb, IL. It would be wonderful to adopt this perfect trio to one home, but we'll split them up as long as they go to a home with at least one other cage mate. Panda - Panda is a star ferret who will actually be featured in my upcoming ferret book. It was a hard decision to put him up for adoption, as he's one of my favorite boys. But he's such a loving gentleman that he'd be perfect for a first time ferret human. Panda is a light colored chocolate sable and is about 4 years old. Sometimes after a shedding season, his head is almost white, but he's not a blaze. Panda gets along with other ferrets and is very easy going. Naturally he has his moments of pure silliness, but he also enjoys being cuddled. Panda should go to a home with another ferret just so that he has someone to play with. He's used to being housed with up to 8 other fuzzies. Fidget, Sybil and Buster - This is a 4yr old trio that really should stay together since they've been together almost their entire lives. We'll consider separating them if their new homes already have ferrets. All three of these fuzzies have wonderful, playful personalities! They're easy going and get along well with other furkids. Buster is a very large male silver mitt whose nose has gone from pink to black over the years. He's simple gorgeous! Although he's not aggressive, he has been know to nip through the cage when fingers are put in. However, Buster has never nipped during playtime. Fidget is a super petite little silver. We've never seen a color like hers before. She's almost platinum, but lightens up every year. Fidget is the most shy of the bunch, but a sweetheart nonetheless. Sybil is a gorgeous sable with a wonderful silky coat. She loves to cuddle with her cage mates, but is always ready for a good romp! All three of these kids will be appearing in the book also! Stretch - Stretch arrived at AFA about 7 months ago. His background is unknown, but we do know he was at death's door when he arrived. He weighed less than a pound and you could feel every bone in his body. In fact, you could pinch his spine beneath his ribcage and feel your fingers touch. We really didn't think he'd live. Emergency exploratory surgery uncovered 3 massive hairballs and an adrenal tumor (although he had a nice fur coat). All of the icky stuff was removed. Now this chocolate sable is tipping the scales at almost 3 1/2 pounds. He's an absolute love and FULL of energy. Stretch is estimated to be between 3 and 4 years old. We think he's the longest ferrets we've had come through the doors! Stretch currently lives with Dillinger, Tucker, and Panda. He should go to a home with other ferrets!! Take care, everyone!
