Sonam, Hi, I live in Ottawa, Ontario, and we get some pretty humid summers. I don't know how to convert, or what exactly the temperature limit is - but here the vet said 75 degrees - celcius or farenheit - I really don't know, but I imagine you can figure that out!!! I have 2 window air conditioners - one in the ferrets room and one in the living room - their main play area. I leave the one in the ferrets room on all the time - 24-7. Becasue it is the only window in that room, if I shut if off, they get no air. The one in the living room is only on when I am home in the evenings and on weekends. Naturally, if it is nice out, I will open the other windows and get a good breeze in the apartment - nothing like fresh air !!! FANS - they DO NOT cool ferrets off - all it does is circulate the warm air. Don't forget ferrets can't sweat, so their is no sweat on their bodies for the fan to cool down. I am not sure exactly how it works, but I am sure someone on the list could explain to you. Other methods that I have read about are plastic pop containers filled with water, frozen and then wrapped in a sock and put in with the fuzzies - helps keep them cool. I am not really sure about other methods - once I found out that they could die from heat, I went out and bought an air-conditioner for their room. The one for the living room didn't come until the next summer!!! - the one for me mostly!! I still sleep in the humid heat at night, but I have been known to crawl in the enclosures with the fuzzies on really hot nights and sleep with them (certainly not a restful sleep let me tell you - poor fuzzies, trying to figure out what the hell their human is doing iin their bed with them??? especially when I don't let them sleep in mine with me!) Good luck, and I am sure you will get lots of posts to help you out, Marion [Posted in FML issue 3019]
