Apparently, Warp ( 6 years old next month) has a lot wrong. Joe went in for her adrenal problem today. Found more going on; hoping for good results from the pathology. The left adrenal is now out completely and the right has had a partial. She has NOT regrown any insulinomae but one section of her pancreas had a strange growth which could not be completely removed and also was attached to the small intestine by adhesions. In fact she was full of adhesions so he took what he could of them; adhesions are rare for a ferret. In addition she has very thin tissue and was literally "full of rents" inside -- a lot of internal tissue tears, including of the intestinal tissue, which should not have been there. Warp is a small, very feminine looking, albino, 6 year old, MF who was in two sequential very badly abusive homes before she joined us at the tender age of 6 months. She is very active, has good muscle mass, and has a wonderful attitude. There are some scary things going on and no one knows why. She might be home with us tonight, perhaps with a catheter, or perhaps without, or she might need to stay in the hospital with Joe keeping an eye on her. We'll know later. Around 6 months ago she had insulinomae and had an unexpected old tear of the small intestine repaired. Wish her well. Anyone else run into the tearing tissue thing? How about adhesions in ferrets? Teach us? In 18 years we haven't encountered these problems. [Posted in FML issue 3036]
