Last nights FML contained this exchange between Lisette and the Killians. >1. MF ferrets have papers from MF. Ask to see these when you find a >group of ferrets that do not have their eyes open yet. MF ferrets--MF >papers. >When Quality Ferrets pulled their angora ferrets from pet stores, the >pet stores were so kind as to give them Marshall "paperwork". Seems that >that paperwork is no guarantee of origination. Its not hard to make >mistakes or forge paperwork." Oh I just have to share an experience we had here with this, which will explain my bizarre question at the end. A few months ago, I happened to meet a lady in the waiting room of our vets.. I asked her about her new fuzzie.. to which she told me she was so happy to have a lovely 4 month old cinnamon female... I asked if she had the paperwork the pet store gave her and she did.. sure enough, the age listed should be right around 4 months.. color listed as cinnamon and a female. I waited for the vet and asked her to take a look and she confirmed... we were holding a 10-12 month old, black sable male!! The person was furious with the store and asked me to go with her. The employees insisted I was mistaken and I obviously did not know a thing about ferrets... when asked about the vet's determination, they claimed the vet must not know ferrets very well. Even when I asked why this *female* had a penis, they claimed THAT was a bellybutton! ARGH!!! After much debating, the employees threw us out.. we hung out in the parking lot until the owner showed up, who came to see what the problem was. The owner quickly admitted the paperwork all gets tossed in a box upon arrival.. they don't bother handing it out with kits unless specifically asked and then, they just grab the nearest package. The owner made all sorts of apologies, admitted to a problem with employees and was pretty good about the whole thing. She took the time to go over some of the ferret basic care sheets I had brought and asked if she could have them for her employees (PLEASE!).. and the person with the kit is now a regular with our ferret group here, helps with the shelter and we have become good friends. So all ended well. But I wonder... *what if* this ferret had been sick and died and she tried to send her warrenty in to Marshalls... the autopsy would read a 10 month old black male, yet her certificate/warrenty was for a 4 month old cinnamon female. Wouldn't her claim appear to be a fraud to Marshalls? What kind of recourse would someone have in situations like this?? A mistake like this is the fault of the pet store not Marshalls.
