We had our Vet out to the house today to give 6 Distemper vaccinations that were due, and to examine Jester who is about 6 years old, and is showing signs of an Adrenal disorder. Now in the previous 2 vaccinations, we've always had one male who seemed to have some sort of a reaction, always just minutes after the Vet leaves....and yes, we always have him wait a good 30 minutes after the last vaccination! Anyway, today we vaccinated that male first....then the other 5, with our little Champagne girl, Jasmine being the last. We started to examine the Adrenal appearing ferret, when we noticed Jasmine was laying half in her litterpan, where she had vomited, and had been incontinent of urine, and puffy tailed, bright red and not responsive! This was no more than 1-2 minutes since her vaccination.... She was handed off to the Vet, who quickly took her out to his mobile van, and administered Oxygen, Benadryl, and Epinephrine. She required further Epinephrine, and Benadryl and took (seemingly) forever to start to come around....... She is now pretty much back to normal, and is sleeping in the sweater drawer. We could go a long long time before we ever see that again! We got some Lysodren for Jester, so he'll be a furry little bugger soon! And the male who was always a worry......he did nothing....or in other words, he was fine!! Our own hearts are finally slowing down.... Richard, Deb, and the 16 Yakimaniacs [Posted in FML issue 3023]
