It has been a year now that we rescued "Squecky", from a ferret shelter. They had her for some time, and she was classified as a severe biter. They were at witts end as she actually attacks men. Her past was unknown, except she had many homes and was a biter. A MF whippet that is almost black. We call her "JAWS" as she has bitten the males of the household many times. In the beginning, we could not go into the room as she would actually attack you and always draw blood. Leslie is our 22yo Mentally Retarded daughter. She is the ferret caretaker of litter pans, food and water morning and night and changing ferrets in the ferret room three times a day. She then gets to hold, play, rock and love the ferret of her choice. Squecky has been a real challange to her as she too has been bitten. She has not given up, and now after a year "Jaws" can be carefully held, and the males of the family can now safely enter the ferret room and work in "Jaws" cage. As Leslie transitions from school into the work force, it is a real shame we can not find her a job to work with pets. We have considered it, but her not having a healthy fear of an animal, could be dangerous for her. Harry C.
